For example, a restaurant or rug cleaning service could benefit dramatically from sending out direct mail flyers or coupons to local homes.

Direct mail is also very flexible in how one can use it. Unless an email is opened, it is mostly ineffective as a form of advertisement. However, this is not the case with direct mail. A direct mail advertisement can graphically get a simple point across nearly as soon as it is seen. This flexibility is part of the reason that despite the fact that we are in a digital age, we can expect direct mail to be an effective and cost effective way of reaching customers for many decades to come.
